MCC’s Lexi Knapp wins Player of the Week honors

McCook Community College freshman Lexi Knapp has been honored as Region IX Softball’s player of the week.

During the week, she hit for a .556 batting average and .619 on-base-percentage. She had three doubles, two home runs and eight RBIs.

For the season Knapp (Berthoud, Colo.) his hitting .532 and slugging .922 with 12 doubles, six home runs and 34 RBIs in 24 games. She has also gone 5-1 as a pitcher with 33 strikeouts in 31 innings.

After weekend series at Columbus and Beatrice were postponed by weather, MCC (21-5) is set to host Otero Junior College (14-17) in a four-game Region IX series Thursday and Friday at the Jaycees Sports Complex. Thursday’s doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. and Friday’s at 11 a.m. However, depending on field conditions, that series could be pushed back.
